Basic information

The TB4042 conductivity probe represents another advancement in process conductivity measurement initiated by ABB with the introduction of 4-pole probes. Unlike 4-pole probes, toroidal probes do not use electrodes.

The TB4042 toroidal conductivity probe is capable of measuring the conductivity of chemically aggressive solutions that corrode, contaminate, or otherwise damage electrode-type probes. The probe itself contains two wound toroidal coils in a chemically resistant polyetherketone (PEEK) sheath. Measurements are made inductively, using magnetic coupling between the solution and the toroidal coils. Since the measurements are made inductively, without the use of electrodes where dirt or deposits could lead to erroneous resistance measurements, this type of probe is virtually impervious to contamination.
